ABAKALIKI—A Non- Governmental Organization, Chinedu Ogah Foundation, COF weekend, said it has empowered 128 youths across the 13 local government areas of the state, as well as given 520 jobs to Ebonyi youths at the federal level as well as trained 620 on Skill Acquisition in different spheres of human endeavour. The NGO also distributed welfare packages such as wrappers to widows in the 20 wards of Ikwo LGA of the State even as it gave an undisclosed amount of cash and gift items to hospitals, nursing mothers and the less privileged in the State.

Other items distributed included cartons of Maggi, bags of salt, cooking utensils, free food among others. The NGO which took a tour of some hospitals in Abakaliki and Ikwo LGAs of the state also visited Mile 4 Hospital, Abakaliki with the objective of giving a sense of belonging to the less privileged in society.

Annual programme

Speaking at Item-Amagu Market Square in Ikwo LGA of the State, the Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation and National Coordinator of Buhari/Osinbajo Initiative for Democratic Change in Nigeria, Comrade Chinedu Ogah who stated that the exercise was an annual programme of the NGO stressed the need for those who are highly placed in society to take care of the needy, poor and less privileged at all times instead of only acquiring wealth for their personal gain.

Ogah, who used the occasion of his 40th birthday to reachout to his community members and announce that the exercise was not politically motivated, called on well meaning Nigerians to emulate similar gestures targeted at nation building and upliftment of the less privileged.

In his remarks, former Governor Martin Elechi who was full of praise for the accomplishments of the celebrant during his tenure as Governor of the State enjoined well meaning Nigerians to emulate such gesture of meeting the needs of the less privileged in society. Elechi explained that when God decides to bless a man nobody can hinder it.
