Ag. DG, NDDC, Ibim Seminitari
By Tom Moses
UYO—Following pressure by groups and individuals canvassing for extension or outright appointment of Mrs. Ibim Semenitari as the substantive Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, a coalition of youth groups in Akwa Ibom State, under the aegis of Federated Akwa Ibom Youths Association, FAYA, has called on President Mohammadu Buhari to ignore such ill-advised calls and appoint a competent indigene of the state to head the commission.
Mrs. Semenitari, who was appointed in December 2015 as the acting Managing Director of the commission the group noted, had already done six months in acting capacity and was already in the seventh month in breach of the period allowed for acting capacity in any office.
Chairman of the coalition, Obisung Ulo-Obisung, in a statement in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, described the calls for her confirmation as “the height of greed.”
