OWERRI—Former Imo State Attorney General, AG, and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Anamelechi Aguwa, has described the prolonged industrial action of the state branch of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN, as “the worst thing that has happened in the state”.
Dr. Aguwa, who made his feelings known while fielding questions from journalists, also reasoned that no government can claim to have done well when the vehicle through which the citizens can assert their right is comatose.
“No government can claim to have done well, or is doing well, when the vehicle through which the fundamental rights of the people are protected, is dormant or not functioning. Any government that fails to provide the right to justice for the people, is a total disappointment to those who voted for it”, Aguwa said.
When asked to proffer solution for the current impasse, the former AG declined, adding that the present state administration is impervious to advice.
“I cannot advise this state government because it doesn’t take advice. Why should I advise the administration? People should be paid for them to go back to work”, Aguwa said.
