ABUJA— Professionals in the public health sector across Africa have called for the strengthening of healthcare emergency system to prevent epidemics on the continent.
This was part of the resolutions reached at the end of a two-day seminar on emergency health systems in Africa.
President of the Association for Good Clinical Practice in Nigeria, AGCPN, and Professor of Radiation Medicine at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, Professor Ifeoma Okoye, said the need for an effective and efficient health emergency system was sacrosanct to overall healthcare service delivery.
Okoye argued that the continuous neglect of health emergency would have negative effects across the broad spectrum in the health sector.
Also speaking, Professor Maurice Iwu harped on the need to enhance modulation in tracking diseases as well as the introduction of a microbiota system.
She said: “There is the need for capacity development, both human and infrastructural, with clinical trial as fulcrum.”
