ABUJA—A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Ladi Lekuti has petitioned the national chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, seeking his intervention over his purported suspension as chairman of the Ijebu-Ode chapter of APC.

Lukuti, in a letter to Oyegun, stated that his suspension from office is a gross violation of the relevant sections of the party’s constitution which stipulates the conditions to be met before any member could be sanctioned.

In the letter written by his counsels,  Messers Ajibola Kaka & Co the party chieftain said he is “of firm legal opinion that the state Exco has acted ultra vires of the constitution of the party. Article 21 clearly envisages fair hearing and thus made provision for it when disciplining any member.

“The question that arises is: can it be said that the state Exco is fair in the manner this allegation and counter allegation is being handled? The answer is no. We are of firm legal opinion that the state Exco has taken side without being fair to both sides.”
