Abuja—A former People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Senatorial aspirant in Niger State, Air Cmdr Peter Gana (retd), has formally jettisoned partisan politics, lamenting that the party has been hijacked by opportunists.

He said at a briefing in Abuja, that after due consultation with members of his family, it was agreed that it was time he left partisan politics and play the role of a statesman henceforth.

Gana, who was a strong member of PDP, said with the way things were going in the economy, it was time that all hands were on deck to steer back the ship of state aright.

He cited the case of Niger State where Governor Abubakar Bello is on the path of returning the state to progress and prosperity.

The three time Senatorial aspirant under the PDP expressed regret at the way the party was hijacked by perceived opportunists who turned it into the enemy of Nigerians.
