Vice Chancellor of BIU, Prof. Ernest Izevbigie, who led the varsity’s management delegation to the Olu Palace, Warri, Delta State, yesterday told Vanguard that, “We are here to convey the ratification of the Governing Council on management’s recommendation that the Olu of Warri be honoured with the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Divinity, Honorary Courser, in our next Convocation, July 2017.
“We think he is deserving of this prestigious award. He is the 20th Olu of Warri. He is a child of God, a man of peace and a widely acknowledged bridge builder. He has led his people well.”
Responding the Olu said, “I am humbled at the offer. It is a great honour to me. We will all be there. Whatever comes from BIU comes from its founding organ, the Church of God Mission. To me, this is family affair as I am a deeply involved member of the church.
“The Palace Parish was just dedicated here two months ago. The Arch. Bishop was here to bless the church and bless the palace. I am here to identify with you. Feel free to call for my assistance and whatever that is within me to do or give, I will do.”
