BENIN CITY—ALL Progressive Congress, APC, women in Edo State, weekend, met with governorship aspirants of the party, demanding 35 per cent representation in the next administration if the party wins the forthcoming governorship election.
The women led by the state APC Woman Leader, Mrs Aisosa Amadasun, lamented that women have been used and dumped after every election, saying that the meeting was to ensure that the next APC governor was gender sensitive so as to end marginalizaiton of women in the polity.
Some of the aspirants at the event include Mr. Chris Ogienmwonyi, Mr Godwin Obaseki, Don Pedro Obaseki, Charles Airhiavbere, Peter Esele while Ken Imasuagbon was represented by Isaiah Osifo.
Mrs Amadasun said: “This decision is not to confront the men but to agitate for fair treatment, enter into a social contract with the aspirants that whoever emerges as the governorship candidate should take more appropriate steps to be gender sensitive in the selection of a running mate, appointment of Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, commissioners, Special Advisers, and Special Assistant.”
