ABAKALIKI—BARRISTER Onyeka Nwebonyi, yesterday, emerged the as the new chairman of the state chapter of the PDP.

Nwebonyi, who is the immediate past Coordinator of Mbeke Development Centre, emerged unopposed like other winners following a harmonization process that forced other contestants to withdraw from the race.

In an interview with journalists at the Abakaliki township stadium where the state Congress took place, Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state hailed the peaceful conduct of the congresses in the state, describing it as the best so far in the history of Ebonyi State.

He disclosed the Congress committees were given free hand to conduct the elections and the entire PDP fold in the state was satisfied with the exercise.

He said PDP was preparing to take over the presidency in 2019.
