Lagos State Waterways Authority, LASWA, in partnership with the state Waste Management Authority, LAWMA, has warned residents against littering waterways with refuse and human wastes, saying any one caught in the act would be arrested and prosecuted
The Secretary of LASWA, Mr. Damilola Famakinwa, who gave out the warning at the weekend, expressed dissatisfaction over the rate of waterways pollution during a joint Clean-up Waterways Campaign with LAWMA, at Ebute-Ero Jetty, Lagos Island, Lagos.
Also, Wecyclers, a non-profit Organisation, NGO, partnered with LASMA to remove garbage around the jetty.
Famakinwa said the exercise was to sensitise the public on the benefits of keeping the waterways clean.
