…chide DSS over failure to respect Reps resolution

ABUJA—Family members and thousands of youths led by executive members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria,NYCN,yesterday, protested to the United States of America, USA and the Chinese embassies in Abuja, against the continued detention of Barr. Ikenga Ugochinyere, Senior Special Assistant to the Senate President on Youths and Students Affairs, by the Department of State Service,DSS.

They said their action was necessitated by the disobedience of last Thursday’s House of Representatives resolution   that Ugochinyere, who is also the President of National Youth Council of Nigeria be immediately released.

The protesters, who matched to the embassies with different placards, said they would continue with their protest to other foreign embassies in Abuja in coming days if the youth activist was not released.

They also threatened to lock down the country by Thursday if Ugochinyere was not allowed to leave his detention cell by the DSS  in 24 hours.

Speaking to newsmen during the protest, Barrister Ohazurike Tochukwu, who identified himself as lawyer to the detained activist, wondered why he was still being held without food or access to his lawyers, family and doctors, days after the unanimous resolution of the House that he be released.
