…drops APC lawmaker in compliance with court order

PORT HARCOURT— Member-elect, Port Harcourt Local Government, constituency 1, on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, Victoria Nyeche, was not sworn in yesterday, alongside 11 other members-elect who won in the first phase of the re-run elections for legislative seats in the state.
It will be recalled that the Appeal Court that sat over election petitions from the state in Abuja, ruled in December last year that she be sworn in as the rightful winner of the House of Assembly elections for her PHALGA constituency 1.
Meantime, Speaker of the Rivers state House of Assembly, Adams Dima, before administering oath of office on 11 of the member elects, yesterday, read out a court injunction restraining the House from administering the oath of office on Nyeche.
According to the Speaker, Justice Adolphus Enebeli of a Rivers State High Court on April 20, granted a restraining order halting the swearing-in of Nyenche, pending determination of a suit by Mr Livingston Wechie, accusing the member-elect of impersonating a member of the state House of Assembly in a petition she wrote to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, in a letter headed paper of the Assembly against the confirmation of Justice Adama Iyayi-Lamikanra as substantive Chief Judge of the state.
