PORT HAR-COURT—A Port Harcourt Magistrates’ Court sitting in Rivers State, yesterday, remanded former Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area of the state, Mr. Ojukaye Amachree, in prison for alleged murder.
Ojukaye, who doubles as a chieftain of All Progressives Congress, APC, was arraigned in court by the Commissioner of Police in the state, Musa Kimo, for alleged murder of one Smart Soberekon, in his council.
Ojukaye is facing two counts charge of felony and murder.
The charge sheet reads: “That you, Ojukaye Flag Amachree ‘m’, with others now at large, on April 11, 2016 at Buguma, in the Port Harcourt magisterial district, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit a felony to wit: murder, and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 516 (a) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, vol. II, Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria 1999.”
Count 2, read, “That you, Amachree ‘m’, with others now at large, at the above mentioned date, place and in the aforementioned magisterial district, did shoot and kill one Smart Soberekon ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 319 (1) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. II, Laws of Rivers State of Nigerian 1999.”
