UGHELLI—Niger Delta Peace Coalition, NDPC, has urged Delta State governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, to immortalize the first governor of the state, the late Olorogun Felix Ibru, by renaming Delta State University, DELSU, after him.
National coordinator of NDPC, Chief Zik Gbemre, in a statement, weekend, explained that as the first civilian governor of the state who also facilitated the transformation of the institution into a full-fledged university, there was no better way to immortalize the late Ibru than to rename the institution after him.
He said: “Just the same way Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife, was named after Chief Awolowo amongst others, there is no better way to immortalize Ibru than to name the Delta State University after him.”
