N-Deltans entitled to benefits from NDDC projects —Semenitari

ASABA—ACTING Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Mrs Ibim Semenitari, weekend, said it was the duty and responsibility of every purposeful government to address the basic needs of its citizens.

Semenitari, who spoke while inaugurating completed road projects executed by NDDC in Ika South and Ika North- East Local Government Areas of Delta State and the flag-off of distribution of tractors for mechanized farming in the state as part of her working visit to the state, said it was the right of the people of the Niger Delta region to enjoy basic amenities provided by the commission.

Flanked by the Delta State Director of NDDC, Mr Gbubemi Ogor and some other top management staff of the commission, Mrs Semenitari added that NDDC, as an interventionist agency of government, was determined to better the lot of the Niger Delta people through the execution of people-oriented projects.

She commended the people of Ika nation for turning out in their numbers with beautiful music and dance to show appreciation over the completion and commissioning of the roads which include Odeh Street, Cemetery Road, Ossian Street and Umeri-Upper Ojekpolor Road projects aimed at enhancing socio-economic activities in the locality.

Flagging off the distribution of the tractors, Semenitari said that the NDDC was interested in promoting agriculture in the Niger Delta region for increased food production and ensure food sufficiency in the country as well as support the Federal Government’s drive towards the diversification of the nation’s economy.
