A Gudu Upper Area Court in the Federal Capital Territory on Thursday admitted a security guard, David Kantoma, to bail in the sum of N500,000 for alleged theft of 4,100 dollars.

Kantoma of Plot 758, Idris Gidado Street, Wuye, Abuja had pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of house breaking and theft.
The presiding officer, Umar Kagarko, ordered the defendant to produce one reliable surety in like sum.

Kagarko said the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, and adjourned the case till June 6 for hearing.

Prosecutor John Ijagbemi told the court that Olumide Agunloye and Uchenna Ofoegbur of same address as the defendant reported the matter at the Wuye Police Station.

Ijagbemi said the defendant replicated a spare key to the apartment of the two complainants and stole the said amount over a period of time.
He added that 300 dollars was recovered from his person when he was arrested by the police.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 347 and 287 of the Penal Code.
