PORT HARCOURT—A young man was, Tuesday night, killed in his mother’s presence in Rumuche community, Emohua clan in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, over a cow allegedly given to them by a political party to celebrate their victory.

The 23-year-old man, Mr. Uchenna Akor, Vanguard gathered, was allegedly dragged out of bed at about 10p.m. by armed men, suspected to be cultists.

A community source, Mr. Chizi Enyi, who related the incident to Vanguard, said Akor was shot in the presence of his mother, while she was pleading with the killers to spare him.

He said the disagreement that led to the killing started when one of the political parties gave a cow to its supporters in the area in celebration of its victory.

Akor allegedly sold the cow without the knowledge of others.

At press time, the Rivers State Police Command said it was yet to be briefed on the development.
