Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State, has said the fire incident that razed the Sabon Gari Market in Kano, should be seen as an act of God.

The governor, who spoke when he visited the scene of the inferno, noted that the latest fire incident at the market was the worst in living memory, and that its consequences would be felt throughout West Africa.

Coming at the worst possible moment of the nation’s economic downturn, the Katsina State Governor, who was the second after Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State to visit the burnt market, urged store owners and other victims not to read any meaning to the incident, but to see it as an act of God, “as it is He that gives and takes away wealth as and when He pleases to whomsoever He wishes.”

He also assured that Katsina State government would team up with other governments in the North and other willing benefactors to assist victims of the fire incident both in cash and in kind.

Governor Masari urged the leadership, management and members of the Sabon Gari Market Association to put in place measures that would ensure the equitable distribution and judicious use of any assistance that comes to them.
