lagos—Following the celebration of King’s College, Lagos, 100 years of existence, old students of the school have published a book,  “Floreat Collegium 100 Years of King’s College, Lagos.’’

The book was published by the old students under the aegis of King’s College Old Boys’ Association, KCOBA.

At a media briefing yesterday, former permanent secretary of KCOBA, Mr. Bukar Usman, said that an agreement was signed with Glendora International Limited and FedEx Red Star Express by the association over the distribution of the said book.

He explained that while Glendora would handle the sales and distribution of the book, FedEx Red Star would ensure delivery of the book to interested buyers.

“This means the books are now available at all Glendora International Limited shops at 164 Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, Shoprite, Ikeja, MM2, Muritala Mohammed International Airport, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja and Kaduna.

“Arrangement have also been concluded with FedEx Red Star Express to provide information and distribute copies of the book through all 165 outlets nationwide,” Usman stated.

KCOBA’s former permanent secretary noted that the book was deep with historical value not only to past and present staff and students of King’s College, but  also all Nigerians.

“So significant have the achievements of the college been throughout its existence that in 2009 the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) thought it fit to celebrate the centenary of King’s College, Lagos.

“The celebration was flagged off at the UNESCO’s 34th General Assembly held in Paris, France in 2007 and was a first time a secondary school in Africa would be so honoured,” Usman said.

The book has nine chapters that tell the story of the college from its inception to the current millennium, with a look at issues beyond the school’s centenary celebration.
