Okunbor, who unveiled the farm in company of the Director General of the Nigeria Export Promotion Council, Dr Segun Awolowo, when they paid a courtesy visit to Governor Adams Oshiomhole at Government House, with his partners from Mexico, explained that the farm will create 25,000 direct jobs and 60,000 indirect jobs.
He explained that he acquired the 9,000 hectares of land in 2006, because it was his dream project.
He said: “I am partnering investors to realise this dream. It is something very special to me. I am doing this, not because of money, but because of what we can give back to the society. It is a legacy project. This will eventually outlive me when I do it the right way.”
In his response, Governor Oshiomhole, commended Capt. Okunbor for initiating the project in his home state, saying, “I thank you for the confidence you have in your own state by veering into agriculture.”
