PDP accuses APC of rigging plots
The atmosphere in Rivers East senatorial district is charged as candidates of the two major political parties in the state, Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressive Congress, APC crisscross the length and breath of the senatorial district campaigning for votes in the Saturday rerun elections.
The senatorial district has eight local government areas. They are Emohua, Etche, Ikwerre, Obio Akpo, Ogubolo, Okrika , Omuma and Port Harcourt.
The candidates of the two major candidates, Thompson Sekibo of the PDP and Andrew Uchendu of the APC are no strangers, having been colleagues first in the House of Representatives and also been fellow members of the PDP before the parting of ways in 2013.

The PDP in a statement issued by its spokesman, Jerry Needam moreover accused the APC of complacency and not campaigning for the election because of the party’s inclination to rig the weekend election.
He said: “the APC has brought into Rivers State from Lagos a printing press called ‘Sam Printing Press’ which will be used in printing all printable sensitive and non sensitive electoral materials for the re-run elections in the State, and which some APC members have been assigned and to be lodged in a hotel in Port Harcourt and Owerri, the Imo State capital, to fill the result sheets with already decided scores that could be announced by a compromised INEC official at the stipulated time.
“The PDP believes that the apparent relaxed mode of the APC leaders and candidates not to carry out any serious campaigns in the State is a confirmation of their plot to rig the elections with the aid of the military, armed youths in camouflage military uniforms and fake results.”
Buhari’s life in God’s hand
Meanwhile, the APC, in Rivers State has said that the life of President Muhammdu Buhari rests in the hands of God as it affirmed that neither Governor Nyesom Wike nor any mortal could truncate his life untimely.
Accusing the governor of unguarded utterances during a campaign outing on Monday, the APC in a statement yesterday said it was not surprised by the choice of words of the governor noting that the present PDP regime shot its way to power.
The party said: “Let them go and bring that man in Abuja (President Muhammadu Buhari), I will send him to his ancestors with only few punches. Amaechi and me (sic) are from Ikwerre, one day I will meet him in the alley or corner of the street, I will cause him to somersault several times before he lands on the ground…”
Reacting yesterday, the party said: ‘The APC condemns it without reservations. However, we are not surprised that such a statement is coming from a badly brought up who managed to climb into office as governor.”
The party said that frustration was forcing Wike to resort to the life of falsehood.
