Race for the White House: Imagine America elects Donald Trump as its 45th President

Donald Trump

Observation

He will probably go head-to-head in the race for the White House with Hillary Clinton in November.

Trump’s website has just five clear policies – a tax cut, reduced immigration, protecting gun rights, looking after veterans and growing the economy.

According to him, “When I’m president, I’m a different person. I can do anything”, “I can be the most politically correct person you have ever seen.”

Yet he faces huge problems, with no political experience and few allies in this own party to help him pass new laws.

 Gun laws

Trump will repeal Obama’s tough gun laws. “Law-abiding people should be allowed to own the firearm of their choice,” he said, adding only criminals and “deranged madmen” should be taken off the streets.

He suggests mental health reforms, but says “law-abiding” citizens can carry assault rifles or concealed handguns to kill “the other guys”.

 Crime

Trump wants to keep Guantanamo Bay detention camp open and load it up with some bad dudes. He claimed it cost $40million a month to maintain and he could run it for $3million or maybe, like, peanuts. The base really costs just $4,085 a year to rent and the Cuban government hasn’t cashed US cheques for 55 years.

 Health

Trump will repeal Obama Care, which gives cheap medical insurance to millions of Americans. He will not change social security or the Medicaid programme for the very poorest, but under Trump the average Joe will feel the brunt of the changes.

 Foreign policy

America will probably lose allies. He promised to tear up the nuclear treaty with Iran. ‘Back Putin 100 per cent over Syria’, and ‘bomb the hell’ out of America’s enemies.

 Economy

Many Americans believe a Trump presidency would be good for the economy, because he is worth up to $4billion. But if he had put the money left him by his millionaire father in a safe investment fund and ‘spent his career finger-painting’ he would have $8billion.

His economic policy includes removing 75 million Americans from income tax, a top tax rate of just 25 per cent, 15 per cent corporation tax and no death taxes. The gain would be offset by Trump’s promise to heavily tax all foreign imports. Economists say it would kick off a global trade war, adding $34trillion to the USA’s debt.

 Immigration

Trump promises to ban all Muslims from entering the USA, build a wall on the Mexican border, and deport 11milliom illegal migrants.

Islamic converts Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali might object, and millions of tourist dollars would be spent at Disneyland Paris instead.

‘Rounding up all the illegals’ would cost $600billion and take 20 years, removing millions of cheap workers from agriculture and meat-processing.

 Religion

Trump upset the Pope, who said a person who ‘thinks only about building walls and not building bridges, is not Christian’. Trump, a Presbyterian, responded that if ISIS attacked the Vatican the Pope might change his mind.
