Nigeria’s representatives in the CAF Champions League, Enyimba and Warri Wolves say they are in tip-top shape for tomorrow’s first leg, first round ties against Vital’O.of Burundi and El-Merrikh of Sudan respectively.
Enyimba Coach Paul Aigbogun, while noting that the two-time CAF Champions League winners are still a work in progress in terms of perfecting the art of goalscoring, said he believes his strikers will come good against the visiting Burundian champions at the at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.
“The problem of scoring that we are experiencing is not not peculiar to Enyimba. I think most Nigerian sides struggle with that problem, but hopefully, we take our chances on Sunday,” Aigbogun said.
The return leg holds at the 22,000 capacity Prince Louis Rwagasore Stadium in Bujumbura and Aigbogun feels the playing the second leg in Burundi would not count against the Nigerian champions.
“The fact that we are playing at home this weekend does not give the opposition any undue advantage over two legs. We are looking forward to the game tomorrow. We know that we have to come out and give 100 per cent to make the fans happy”, said the former Warri Wolves coach.
Meanwhile, Warri Wolves winger, Kelvin Itoya said they are ready to take down Sudanese side, El Merrikh at the Warri City Stadium. Speaking yesterday, Itoya said: “this is our first time playing in the Caf Champions League and we’ve resolved to make the most of this opportunity. We are well prepared for this side, who we have heard so much about.
“They are definitely a good side but we are physically and psychologically ready for them even though we know we have to be at our best to beat them.”
