Abeokuta – Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has pledged to give over 30 first class Students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta automatic employment .
Amosun who was the moderator to the state-owned Polytechnic, stated this at the 14th convocation ceremony of six sets from 2010 to 2015 academic sessions.
The governor who was flanked by Chairman, governing council, Iyalode Alaba Lawson and the Rector of the Polytechnic, Prof. Oladele Itiola said he would not only offer the distinction students , employments, he would also sponsor them to further their studies.
Amosun also disclosed that the state government in conjuction with the governing council has approached the National University Commission with a view to making the Polytechnic a degree-awarding institution.
The governor who was an alumnus of the Polytechnic further pledged that he would build hostels in memory of his parents.
According to him, those ones that made distinction, if you let me know their numbers, not only will we give them automatic employment, those that want to further their studies which I will encourage, we will be ready to see what we can do.
“As an alumnus of this great institution, I am going to construct two hostels that would be named after my parents.
“I am happy to inform you that very soon you will see the effects of the efforts we have made. We have approached the NUC and I can assure you that they will give you a special surprised very soon”.
In his remarks, the rector of the Polytechnic, lauded the State governor for his contributions to the development of the institution, adding that the polytechnic would continue to produce diploma graduates with skilled technical and professional knowledge to meet the needs of changing trends .
He said ” we are working intimately with the industry, to respond to their changing needs and thus provide a platform for collaboration in research , which could become commercially-viable innovations of tomorrow.
“This is where the Polytechnic is striving to stand out in the vocational and technical education we are licensed to provide”.
