LG polls to be held in Lagos State today

UYO—The Akwa Ibom State Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Dr. Gabriel Ada, yesterday, assured that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in the state will conduct free and fair election tomorrow, in the five state constituencies and one senatorial district (Akwa Ibom North-East) of the state where re-run election was ordered by the appellate court.
Ada, who, in an interview with Vanguard, expressed the readiness of the commission to conduct the rescheduled election, said that accreditation and voting would take place simultaneously in all the affected polling units.
He warned that the commission would not hesitate to cancel any election where there were clear cases of violence or any form of interference with the electoral process.
The REC said that the elections would hold in Etinan, Ibesikpo-Asutan, Ikot-Ekpene/Obot Akara, Oron/Udung Uko state constituencies including 24 polling units in Itu Local Government Area spread across nine registration areas/wards.
