OLEH—ISOKO Development Union, IDU, the apex socio-cultural organisation of the Isoko nation, has decried the spate of projects abandonment by Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, in the various communities in Isokoland.

It called on the state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, to expedite action in “waking up” DESOPADEC to serve oil producing communities across the state effectively, saying it was imperative to bring the commission back on track.

Speaking at a meeting of the Isoko Unity Complex, Oleh, President-General of IDU, Chief Idu Amadhe, noted that the commission had of late, failed to carry out its responsibilities to the oil bearing communities, thereby leaving many projects uncompleted in its mandate areas.

He commended Governor Okowa for the ongoing massive renovation and construction work at Ofagbe Technical College, Ofagbe, and the Law and Engineering faculties of Delta State University, Oleh campus.

Reiterating the determination of the Isoko people to partner Okowa in his job creation programmes, Amadhe urged the governor to direct contractors handling the Ughelli/Asaba Road dualization project to commence work on the Ozoro/Arhadhe axis of the road to reduce vehicular traffic in the area.
