BENIN CITY—EDO State born business mogul, Mr. Monday Ohuimumwen has urged Governor Adams Oshiomhole to maximize the gains of his road rehabilitation in the state by introducing an effective road taxation system.

Making the call in a chat with newsmen in Benin City, Mr. Ohuimumwen said: “Governor Oshiomhole’s administration in Edo State can be considered as one of the boldest in terms of challenging those who have been hoodwinking the progress and development of the state. The governor has also done very well in infrastructural development, especially road rehabilitation, I will say kudos to him.

“But a lot still needs to be done in terms of road regeneration, which is why a toll system that can be used to maintain the roads and expand other areas of development needed to be put in place. In the health sector, we have seen huge investments and gigantic structure, especially in the city centre; in education we have also seen some developments, but the rural populace are not so lucky.

“Are there modern equipment and the needed technology to meet the requirements of patients in the health sector? We hear of teachers threatening to go on strike. These are areas Oshiomhole’s successor should take a look at. The man has tried.”

His successor should tackle the economy. Okpella Cement Factory and Bendel Brewery should also receive some attention”.

He, however, added that given the opportunity, he would be interested in the local government administration, where he could build a model city in his local government, Ovia North East, and work with relevant agencies and authorities to transform the council, create youth employment, build a stadium and bring Gele-Gele Port to fruition, among others.
