Amuneke wants his backroom staff at U-20

Amuneke hails Eaglets

Newly appointed  head coach of the national U-20 team team, the Flying Eagles, Emmanuel Amuneke wants to move along with the same team he worked with to win the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile.

Amuneke whose upgrading did not come as a surprise to many is of the belief that his backroom staff, particularly his coaching crew, is one he cherishes so much because of the high lev el of  understanding between them.

“The coach has stated in clear terms, he wants to continue with the same backroom staff he worked with before and during the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile,” a top member of the Nigeria Football Federation technical committee told Sports Vanguard.

He said the technical crew were the best he could work with because of “the already established bond which engenders harmonious working relationship among them. Above all, you don’t change a winning team.”

He further disclosed that Amuneke thanked the leadership and the executive committee of the NFF for the confidence they had in him but is desirous to see that the same was extended to his backroom staff.

Amuneke’s assistant coach was Coach Kabiru Baleria with Emeka Amadi, a former youth international as goalkeeper trainer. The team co-ordinator for the U-17 World Cup-winning squad was Prince Udofia while Egbaiyelo Tayo and Morakinyi Abodunrin worked as the secretary and media officer respectively.

If Amuneke’s wish should be consented to, then the team doctor, Olarinoye Ayodeji, physiotherpist, Aliu Abubakar and equipment manager Idris Adamu will also join him.
