Abductors of ex-NDDC boss, Aguariavwodo’s mum demand N200m ransom

By Perez Brisibe,

UGHELLI—FIVE days after an 8-man robbery gang abducted the octogenarian mother of ex-Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, they have reportedly contacted the family, demanding a ransom of N200 million for her release.

Mrs. Sarah Aguariavwodo, who is in her 80s, was whisked from her Ogbe Street residence, Okpare-Olomu, Ughelli South Local Government Area, to an unknown location at about 11:30p.m. last Tuesday after two previous attempts to kidnap her failed.

Confirming the ransom demand, a senior officer of the Department for State Services, DSS, in the area who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the kidnappers actually called one of the daughters of the victim on phone with their demands.

“We are doing everything possible, with other security agencies, to ensure that she is released safe and sound,” the source added.

Meanwhile, some women at Okpare-Olomu took to the streets of the town to protest the abduction of the octogenarian, whom they said is one of the oldest women in the community.
