English FA Cup last 16 action brought goals for Nigerian pair Victor Moses and Emmanuel Emenike for West Ham, while Burkina Faso’s Bertrand Traore was on the mark for impressive Chelsea.

Elsewhere, African Player of the Year Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored his 21st goal of the season for Borussia Dortmund while Mohamed Salah was the man of the match with two goals in Roma’s rout of Palermo.

VICTOR MOSES (West Ham)

The Nigeria winger made it 1-1 in the Hammers eventual 5-1 fifth-round FA Cup win over second-tier Blackburn Rovers when he let fly six minutes after his side had fallen behind with a well-struck shot from 20 yards out.

EMMANUEL EMENIKE Emenike (West Ham)

Moses’s compatriot, on loan from Turkish side Fenerbahce, had a full debut to remember as he scored twice to help secure London club West Ham’s place in the quarter-finals. At 2-1, he finished from close range in the 64th minute before scoring again five minutes before the final whistle after more good approach work by fellow two-goal hero Dimitri Payet. Emenike might have had a hat-trick, a shot coming back off the post before another effort was ruled out for offside in stoppage time.

BERTRAND TRAORE (Chelsea)

The Burkina Faso midfielder completed Chelsea’s 5-1 FA Cup rout of Manchester City a minute from time at Stamford Bridge when his back header looped in at the far post.

SPAIN

CARLOS KAMENI (Malaga)

Cameroonian goalkeeper Kameni saved a Cristiano Ronaldo penalty and produced a string of other fine stops as Malaga held Real Madrid for the second time this season in a 1-1 draw to strike a huge blow to Madrid’s hopes of winning La Liga.

MANUCHO (Rayo Vallecano)

Angolan striker Manucho scored his first league goal of the season after being introduced as a first-half substitute to help Rayo Vallecano come from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 against Sevilla and edge four points clear of the relegation zone.

GERMANY

PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG (Borussia Dortmund)

The Gabon striker netted his 21st league goal of the season in Dortmund’s controversial 1-0 win at Bayer Leverkusen. The game was briefly halted in the second-half after Leverkusen coach Roger Schmidt refused to go to the stands after furiously protesting about a free-kick in the build-up to Aubameyang’s goal.

SALOMON KALOU (Hertha Berlin)

The Ivory Coast striker scored his 11th league goal of the season to rescue a point for Hertha Berlin in their 1-1 draw at hone to Wolfsburg. Wolves took the lead at the Olympic Stadium through Marcel Schaefer on 53 minutes, but Salomon Kalou equalised on the hour mark with a shot after Naldo had cleared off the visitors’ line.

FRANCE

MAJEED WARIS (Lorient)

The Ghanaian striker has had a mixed season so far, but impressed as Lorient came from two goals down to beat Guingamp 4-3. Waris, 24, pulled his team back into the game before half-time, and completed a brace to put Lorient 3-2 ahead. With top-scorer Benjamin Moukandjo hobbling off injured in the first half, Waris could have a key part to play for Lorient for the rest of a season in which he has scored seven goals so far.

SAIDI NTIBAZONKIZA (Caen)

The Burundi international scored his first Ligue 1 goal for Caen against Rennes. The 28-year-old drilled in the winner to give his team’s European hopes a boost. Midfielder Ntibazonkiza has spent most of the season on the bench since joining from Turkish club Akhisar Belediyespor last summer.

ITALY

MOHAMED SALAH (Roma)

Salah was arguably man of the match in a 5-0 rout of Palermo that saw the fleet-footed Egyptian hit a brace. Salah hit the side-netting in the opening half then made amends when he ran on to Edin Dzeko’s flick on the hour to beat Fabrizio Alastra and give Roma a 3-0 lead. Two minutes later Salah scored a second, spectacular effort that he curled from an impossibly tight angle.

SEYDOU KEITA (Roma)

Keita has been used sparingly by Roma but the experienced Malian seized the day on a rare start with a toe-poke from a corner that landed in the roof of the Palermo net. Having taken plenty of physical punishment in a bruising first half, when he fell to the ground after receiving a wayward hand to the face, it was just rewards for the 36-year-old defensive midfielder who scored his second league goal of the season on his 13th appearance.
