N-Delta varsity shut over students’ protest

Yenagoa—Authorities of Niger Delta University, NDU, yesterday shut down the institution following a violent protest by some students over rules on the pass mark required for them to graduate from the institution.

The aggrieved students, made up of a section of the Faculty of Engineering, it was gathered, felt threatened by the new rule of the faculty and went on rampage with a demand that the rule be reviewed or changed.

The protesters, mainly final year students, were said to have issues with some core courses during their second year, which they were yet to get rectified.
