ABEOKUTA—Two former governors of Ogun state, Chief Olusegun Osoba and Otunba Gbenga Daniel, yesterday, shunned the incumbent governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun’s parley with past Governors of the State since the State was created 40 years ago.

The state which was created out of the defunct Western Region on February 3rd,1976, was administered by the military for 22 years while the civilians reigned for 18 years.

Amosun had scheduled a special state executive council meeting with past Governors of the state in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the creation of the State .

Osoba and Daniel who were two executive governors of the state  failed to show up at the exco meeting. They did not send their representatives either.

Meanwhile, the meeting which was held at the Executive Chambers of the Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, was attended by seven military administrators while Col. Raji Rasaki was also absent.

Those in attendance were the Lt Colonel Siedu Adeolu Balogun, Colonel Oladipo Diya, Lt. Colonel Oladayo Popoola, Navy Captain Oladehinde Joseph, Lt.Col. Daniel Akintonde, Group Captain Sam Ewang, Navy Captain Kayode Olofinmoyin.

They used the avenue for the past military administrators to share their experiences on how they  administered the state.

A minute silence was observed in honour of the departed ex-governors Brigadier Harris Egbagha and the first executive governor of the state, Chief Olabisi Onabanjo and Navy Captain Mohammed Lawal.

The past administrators who spoke one after the other identified the areas where the state needed to improve upon to improve its fortune.

They all however, commended the efforts of the present administration in the state led by Senator Ibikunle Amosun for the giant strides in moving the state forward.

Also in attendance were Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, senators representing Ogun Central and West senatorial districts, Prince Lanre Tejuoso and Prince Gbolahan Dada,while the Senator representing Ogun East,Prince Buruji Kashamu was not also present.

In his remarks, Amosun appreciated the former administrators for honouring the state and pledged his administration’s commitment to continue to work for the progress of the state.
