PORT HARCOURT— Outgoing Resident Electoral Commissioner in Rivers State, Dame Gecilia Khan, said, yesterday, that February 6 had been fixed tentatively for the re-run elections in the state.

Khan, who used the occasion of an interaction with leaders of the various political parties at the state headquarters of the commission in Port Harcourt, to formerly break the news of her transfer ahead of the rerun elections, said that the re-run elections would be conducted for 37 elective positions in the state.

She gave a run-down of the offices to be contested for as 22 House of Assembly seats, 12 House of Representatives seats and three senatorial seats in the state.

She said that only registered voters for the 2015 general election would be allowed to vote. She put the number of the registered voters at 2,148,289.

Meantime, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP  and other parties, except the APC in the state have  expressed dissatisfaction with the February 6  date for the rerun elections, saying the time was not enough for parties to prepare adequately for the exercise.
