Lawmaker distributes 450 bags  of rice to constituents

Nnewi—A member of Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr. Pascal Agbodike, has distributed 450 bags of rice, some cartons of groundnut oil and tomatoes to members of his Ihiala II constituency. The ceremony took place at his Umuhu Mbosi home, Ihiala Local Government Area of the state. He also feted nursery and primary school pupils of St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Mbosi, and distributed some education materials to the school children.

Agbodike, who is the Deputy Majority Leader and Chairman, Youths & Sports Committee in the House, represents Okija, Orsumoghu, Azia, Mbosi, Isseke, Lilu and Ubulu-Isiuzo among other towns. In his speech, Monsignor Michael Onyekachi, the Priest in charge of St Patrick’s, praised the lawmaker for his magnanimity, adding that Agbodike had never hidden his love for his people, particularly the less-privileged among them.

Speaking on the occasion, Agbodike thanked the priest and the Rev. Sisters for organising and imparting the required knowledge to the children for the good of the society and re-iterated his willingness to continue supporting education programmes of the pupils and other students at both the secondary and tertiary levels through his Mirioma Education Foundation.

According to him, over 100 youths from Ihiala II constituency will benefit from his scholarship scheme at the end of his four years in the House. He then appealed to parents to always encourage their children to acquire Western education, which he stressed, “makes a man virtuous and affords him many opportunities in life.”

Also, speaking, the President-General of Mbosi Town Union, Mr George Obizulike, expressed gratitude to the 11 wards that make up Ihiala II constituency for supporting Agbiodike and assured that the lawmaker would not disappoint them, instead he will always give them effective and responsible representation.
