The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state has been urged to organise a free, fair, transparent and credible governorship primary election.
This is contained in a press release issued at the end of the media briefing organised by Oyato Campaign Group to drum up support for APC in the state.
According to the release signed by Mr Olayato Aribo, there must be a primary election devoid of manipulation and imposition.
“The people of Ondo State have realized their mistakes and are anxiously waiting to put an end to the inglorious and misrule of PDP in the State. With the reality on ground it is very certain that the government of PDP cannot fulfil 25% of its promises to the people of Ondo State. Our state cannot afford to lag behind any longer,” he said.
Mr Oyato also urges the party leadership to play down on the issue of zoning, which is often exploited as a tool of propaganda to enable the party produce a trusted, dependable, and marketable candidate as flag bearer irrespective of the senatorial district he or she comes from.
“As a former House of Representatives and governorship aspirant in the state, so many people have been calling on me to contest again, but all of us cannot be governor at the same time. What is more important to me is the collective interest of the party. That is why our group has started to work across the state to ensure whoever emerges as party’s candidate becomes governor come October, 2016″.
