BENIN—A socio-political organisation in Edo State, Positive Change Vigilante, PCV, has called on the leadership of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo State to discipline all members casting aspersion on Governor Adams Oshiomhole over his purported support for the governorship ambition of Mr Godwin Obaseki, Chairman of the state Economic Team.

The group said: “Most of the people accusing Oshiomhole of imposition today are the same people that had benefited from imposition even though they never achieved anything for the people of the state during the years they were in position. They cannot be bigger than the party and the governor, hence they should be suspended if the insult continues.”

A statement by Isaac Ukponahuinsi, acting Coordinator of PVC, said: “We have been reading in the media and understudying the unguarded statements by some APC members and governorship aspirants for some time now and I think the state chapter of the party must discipline such members.

“It is uncharitable and crass-indiscipline for party chieftains to exacerbate arrogance and disdain to the governor over purported support for Godwin Obaseki’s candidacy in the forthcoming election.

“As disciplined politicians, while insisting on fair play in the build-up to the primaries, governorship aspirants who lacked the requisite capacity to surmount the political climate should quietly disembark from the race, rather than resort to casting aspersions on the party’s sensibilities.”
