LAGOS—Pandemonium broke out when some policemen hired by some land grabbers invaded and attacked the serene village of Iragon community in the Badagry Local Government Area of Lagos State.
One Alhaji Saheed Abimbola based in Mile Two, Amuwo suburb of Lagos was said to had led over fifty miscreants to unleash terror on hapless villagers over a disputed two plots of land. They ran out of luck when they were overrun by the villagers who seized three policemen.
An eyewitness account who narrated their ordeal during the midnight attack described the ugly incident as horrific but said more curious were the police officers who led over fifty area hoodlums from Mile Two Amuwo armed with dangerous weapons and charms to vandalise the Baale’s residence.
The hoodlums also demanded to take the Baale away dead or alive as they shot sporadically into the air.
It was learned that that the spate of the shootings angered the entire community who mobilised their teeming youths and elders and the attack was resisted resulting in the capture of three policemen who have since been handed over to the DSS boss in Badagry by the Baale, Chief Francis Sedowhe.
It was gathered that the captured policemen were detailed by a senior police officer attached to X-Squad at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarter who they said was acting on the instance of one Alhaji Saheed.
The X-Squad team and the area boys were led into the community by another team of policemen from the Morogbo Police Station along the Lagos -Badagry Expressway.
