BENIN—A chieftain of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo State, Mr Austin Emuan, has appealed to all governorship aspirants on the platform of the party for next years’ governorship election in the state, to see the state as one and regard themselves as members of the same family bound by a common patrimony.

Emuan, in his Christmas message in a statement in Benin, called on the aspirants to allow the delegates to the party’s governorship primaries to pick who should fly the flag of the party in the governorship election instead of spoiling for war ahead of the primaries.

The economic development expert and neo-structural scholar admonished the public, regardless of their religious beliefs, to use the period of the yuletide to embrace and deepen the virtues of patience, love, peace and humility which were the cardinal points in the teachings of the Jesus Christ.

He also advised Christian religious leaders to use the opportunity of the season to preach messages of salvation, saying, “The biggest honour we can give Jesus Christ at this period is to encounter Him and to live up to the assurance that His mission to redeem mankind was not in vain.”

The APC chieftain, who described Christmas as a profound season to celebrate the life of Christ, said the season was not a time to indulge in excessive drinking or sexual immorality but a time for Christians to renew their faith in Christ and diligently seek him.
