ABA—THE Abia State National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA Commander, Bamidele Akingbade has promised to use all available resources to rid Abia State of drug peddlers, despite the challenges facing the agency in the state.
Akingbade in an interview at the state headquarters at Ogbor Hill, Aba pointed out that the high rate of drug presence on Abia State streets, was giving them sleepless nights and requires very swift and concrete efforts to restore the state to normal.
He said that leaving drugs peddlers on the streets was tantamount to feeding criminals with cannon fodder for their criminal actions, hence every right thinking person should join the fight.
He said that he had been parading some of drug peddlers to keep the public abreast of the agency’s activities and to discourage those who may want to venture into the drug business.
“It is also meant to let the public know what the agency is doing to ensure peace and security in Abia especially during this season of Christmas by removing one of the precursors of crime which is drugs. We also use the opportunity to let the public and government to know our constraints and areas we would require their assistance,” he said.
