THE Chairperson of the Nigeria Women Football League Mrs. Dilichukwu Onyedinma has commended the efforts of former Super Falcons player Maureen Mmadu in the empowerment of youths in the game of football.

Mrs. Onyedinma who was the Special Guest of Honour at a two- day U-20 Football Tournament organized by the former international for U-20 boys and girls in Abuja   said the efforts of the former player who is now a Coach with a Norwegian Women team will never be forgotten by Nigerians.

“These youths that are being given the opportunity today, would forever be grateful to you. You have succeeded in bringing smiles to their faces, and we appreciate all your efforts” said Onyedinma who also urged other foreign based players to always remember their roots, and ensure that they give back to the society”.

Earlier in her remarks, the organizer of the tournament Maureen Mmadu said she was happy with all the residents of FCT especially the Football Association for accepting to partner with her within a short period in the organization of the tournament.

Mmadu equally promised that apart from the Christmas editions that would be organized in Abuja, that the Easter editions would be staged in other parts of the country.

She added that the event was her own little way of appreciating Nigerians that supported all through her career as a player, and still supporting her now even as a Coach.

In the two day tournament played at the Area 3 playing ground, 10 male teams and four female teams from FCT and its environs participated with Super Lions FC of Suleja, Niger State winning the top prize of N100,000 and a trophy after defeating FC Liberty of Jikwoyi Abuja on penalties.

Maureen Mmadu played a total number of 101 games for Nigeria.
