The Sylva-Igiri Campaign Organisation (SICO) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized the policies and programmes of the incumbent Governor, Seriake Dickson, describing it as anti-people, wicked and painful.

The campaign organisation while expressing regrets that Governor Dickson, in the last three years, introduced unpopular initiatives that have turned out to be pain to the people assured Bayelsans that Sylva change was coming to consolidate his programmes and would create prosperity and wealth for the people to ensure quality living.

The APC governorship candidate, through Chief Nathan Egba, Director of Media and Publicity of SICO, yesterday in Yenagoa recalled that Governor Dickson had boasted that none of his appointees, particularly the commissioners and special advisers would become millionaires under his government.

Sylva alleged that the PDP-led government introduced policies that have crippled businesses of Bayelsans in private enterprises so as to ensure that there would be nobody financially strong enough to challenge him in the coming election.

According to him, the civil servants are worst hit through multiple taxation. ”The government has also inflicted pains on the pensioners in the state by not paying their entitlements for months. The Sylva-Igiri Campaign Organization identifies with the pains of the pensioners and promise to clear all outstanding payments as soon as the APC takes over the affairs of government.

“Apart from abandoning the students who are on foreign scholarships in different countries, the Dickson-led administration till date has failed to pay bursary to Bayelsa students in tertiary institutions,” he added.

The Sylva-Igiri Campaign Organisation also accused the Dickson government of abandoning inherited projects including the five star hotel, the state library and 500-bed hospital, in which previous governments of late Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and Chief Timipre Sylva had committed huge state funds.

The Sylva camp wondered why the PDP-led government that laments drop in allocation and high wage bill has continued to make series of political appointments to gain goodwill.

“The time for change is here and the Sylva-Igiri ticket of the APC is to rescue and truly restore the pride of the civil service, elder statesmen, the youths, market women and students”, the APC candidate’s campaign organisation declared, assuring Bayelsans that Sylva was coming to consolidate his programmes and create prosperity and wealth for the people to ensure quality living.
