PORT HARCOURT— Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, has described as bad politics, the attitude of opposition elements in the state who try to downplay the successes of his administration in the first 100 days in office.

The governor in a state wide broadcast, yesterday, said that they were only shutting their eyes to the problems the former government created allegedly through misguided programmes and profligacy.

Wike on the success of his administration in the area of road reconstruction, renovation of the abandoned faculty of law building at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, and others, said he was conscious of the fact that the first 100 days in the life of a government of four years was just the beginning.

He said his government paid salaries of civil servants, footballers, pensions owed by the former government without any bailout fund from the Federal Government.

The governor who said that his administration will welcome constructive criticism noted that he inherited a broken economy which he had started fixing.

On security, he said the government was set to take delivery of Bell 412 partly armoured helicopters that would be deployed for security operations.

He later inspected ongoing projects in the state, which include Iwofe, Creek Industry, Nkpogu roads and Nkogu Bridge. Others are Peter Odili-Woji Road/bridge, East West-Eleme Onne Expressway, Elioparanwo Road, Whimpey, Evo Road, Eagle Island-Iloabuchi Road and bridge and Silverbird Cinema-Abali park road.

He also visited the faculty of law building that was completed by his administration after it was abandoned years back by previous governments.

The governor explained to media men that he had to ensure that work continued on the projects when he assumed office because of their value to people of the state.
