Fayose promises better days for Ekiti monarchs

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayo Fayose, has promised a better deal for the traditional institution and monarchs in the state, saying no monarch will suffer any form of humiliation under his government.

He spoke in Ado-Ekiti at the weekend during the celebration of the annual Udiroko Festival at the palace of the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe.

In a statement yesterday, by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, the governor also promised that cultural festivals in the state would be projected to attract global attention and earn revenue for the state.

Commenting on the Udiroko Festival, Fayose said the state government would within the next few months complete the gallery being constructed in the palace ground.

He solicited the support of the Ewi, the people of Ado-Ekiti and Ekiti State in general for the programmes of his government, adding that greater dividends of democracy are on the way for the people to enjoy.

Condemns appointment of LG caretaker committees

Also, Fayose, has said the use of caretaker committees to administer local governments is   not only an aberration but illegality and crime against humanity.

Fayose urged the governors in the 36 States of the country to discourage such illegal practices   through the conduct of election

into the local   governments,   for meaningful development at that tier of government.

Speaking on a radio/television programme tagged :   ‘Governor Explains’  in Ado-Ekiti at the weekend, the governor canvassed the strengthening of the third tier of government, being the closest   to the poor and highly vulnerable masses , rather than taking steps that could weaken it.
