Bauchi—The National Obstetric Fistula Centre in Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, has concluded arrangements to offer free surgical service to fifty Vesico Virginal Fistula VVF victims in the state, beginning next Monday.
According to a press statement by the Head of Clinical Services of the Centre, Dr. Halima Mukaddas, the surgical service will be conducted in collaboration with United Nations Population Fund, UNFDA,
It stated that patients would be attended to for a week.
The statement read: “The UNFDA has been involved with fistula programmes as part of its country programmes and currently working with the Nigerian government and other stakeholders to eliminating the life-shattering condition of victims of obstetric fistula in Northern Nigeria”
“The relevant institutional capacity would be strengthened to provide quality and safe delivery care services, including Emergency Obstetrics Care for pregnant women; ultimately bringing an end to obstetric fistula.”
It said free drugs and feeding would be given during the operation and called on all VVF patients to go to the centre at Ningi for enrolment into the programme.
