Lagos—A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, yesterday, dismissed the suit by the former Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Alhaji Ali Olanusi, challenging his impeachment by the State House of Assembly on April 27, 2015.

Justice Mohammed Idris, in a judgment on a fundamental rights enforcement suit by Olanusi, upheld the objection by the defendants and ruled that the Court lacked the jurisdiction to entertain the suit.

The court held that a careful look at the suit revealed that the main case was the one principally challenging the action of a state agency, and as such, the FHC lacked the jurisdiction to hear the claim.

Olanusi had sued the Inspector General of Police and the chairman of the seven-man investigative panel which found him guilty of impeachable offences.

The court held that the suit was an abuse because there is still a similar suit pending at the state High Court of Ondo State on the same subject matter.
