THE proprietress, Mrs Vivian Boi-Noi, of Sentinel Nursery and Primary school has said that education is the right of every child, not a privilege. She made this known during the school’s end of session ceremony and art exhibition day tagged, “Every child is an artist”.

Mrs Boi-Noi who attributed the denial of education of children that hawk on the streets, to the harsh economic situation of the country insisted that ,’’every child has the right to education, it is their right and not a privilege. That is what the government should insist on. There should be a policy that says, if a child is seen trading during school hours, the parents of such child should be arrested.”

Speaking on the importance of primary education, the proprietress said; “Sentinel school’s objectives is to have a good primary education because once the foundation is good, there is nothing you cannot build on it. Primary education is the basis and if the basis is not good there is nothing you can can do about the future. If the foundation is wrong, a house will crumble.”

The chairman of the occasion, Mr Agbamuche Emmanuel, father of two pupils of the school who led other parents and the pupils to the exhibition said; the exhibition has changed the notion that artists are not recognised and art is a profession of the never do well in the society.”

Emmanuel opined that, “Beautiful houses are designed by architects, they also design the pillars and towers we see. Artists have a very big role to play in the system and its profession is a source of good living.  That if one takes art as a profession and knows his onus, he or she will do well.

“I believe we are all artists. Every child given birth to is gifted, so no matter who one is or how dull one is intellectually or academically, God has given everyone a talent that is innate in him, one only needs a hand to bring and develop the talents.”
