Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has admonished the Majotity Leader of the House of Representatives, Mr. Femi Gbajabia‎mila of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to continue to champion participatory and constitutional democracy and not compromise his leadership obligations in the House of Representatives.

Speaking at the welcome party in honour of Femi Gbajabiamila at his constituency, the governor who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Office of Civic Engagement, Mrs. Adebunmi Adekanye said his victory was as a result of his focus on the strengths of the party and its supremacy.

Governor Ambode added that the role Gbajabiamila played during the crisis in the Federal House of Representatives was an example of a leader who is decisive, focused and anticipate the direction of the business of legislature to achieve his vision and goals.

“You are a man of integrity and that was what earned you the support from the leadership of the party and the quality you exhibited as a minority leader was what helped in your victory as the majority leader.

“This quality has changed you from being a transactional leader to a transformational leader. I must commend your willingness to sacrifice your position for the sake of peace and unity of the House.

“Only the leader who can accurately anticipate future threats can survive the increasingly competitive and dynamism of legislature practise and procedures”, he said

He however urged the majority leader to ensure that good governance is enshrined in the quality of resolutions and bills passed and to ensure harmony between the executives and legislators in the house of representatives and Lagos in particular.

Meanwhile, the ‎majority leader, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila pledged his unflinching support to the Speaker of the House, Aminu Dogara to work closely with him so as to achieve tremendous successes in the 8th assembly.

“I am ready to support the leadership of the house, the administration of President Mohammedu Buhari, the party leadership.

“That I am not speaker in the house of representatives was orchestrated by God and I cannot change it. The party has taken a decision and I have to abide it”, he noted.

While appreciating President Muhammadu Buhari for his intervention during the National Assembly crisis, he noted that Lagos State is fortunate to have a position of both minority and majority in the House of Representatives.

He therefore appreciated his constituents for their support and donated the sum of N10 million urging them to utilise it and make the APC party stronger in Surulere and its environ. “We will continue together in the National Assembly for the betterment of the people‎”, he said.

He advised those who think that President Buhari’s administration is slow to have a rethink saying he is the only leader who has proved  his worth within the space of three months.  “I can tell you that he is the fastest President we will ever had in Nigeria in terms of planning within three month.

Speaker, LagosHouse of Assembly, Mr. Mudashiru Obasa expressed optimism that the majority leader will not not rest on his oasis to making sure that the resolutions and bills to be passed will be to the interest of Nigerians.
