ABUJA – Erstwhile Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, has asked a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory to award him N2billion as general and aggravated damage for insults he has received over the Centenary City Project that was hitherto under his supervision.
Anyim, in two separate suits he filed through his lawyer, Chief Mike Ozehkome, SAN, told the high court that he has been called many derogatory names like, “419ner”, “fraudster” and “corrupt former SGF”, among others.
The former SGF said the “attack” on his integrity as a public officer, was ignited by two libelous publications he said were sponsored against him by the National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP (South-South), Dr. Cairo Ojougboh and the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Comrade Timi Frank.
Consequently, Anyim, in his suits marked CV/2598/15 and CV/2599/15, joined both Ojougboh and Frank as defendants in the N2bn libel action.
He maintained that the stories, which were published in some national dailies on July 13 and 15, 2015, respectively, were “maliciously concocted to frustrate the Centenary City Project, and in particular, to scare away the foreign partners”.
