THE Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mim-iko has been urged to ensure the continuation of his government’s Mother and Child Hospital initiative beyond his tenure even as he was lauded for his landmark achievements in the health sector.

Leading members of his Association, the President of the Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics of Nigeria (SOGON),   Prof. Brian Adinma during a courtesy visit to the Governor in his office yesterday   described him   as a pace setter   for best practices in qualitative   healthcare delivery particularly in the area of  maternal health care adding that his initiatives in the area have added to the state just as he commended the Abiye safe motherhood programme of the administration, which he noted has received both local and international accolades.

Adinma said the administration ‘s Mother and Child Hospitals concept should be a model and template globally, urging   the Governor to ensure the continuation of the Mother and Child hospitals after the expiration of his tenure assuring that the society would  partner the state government   in all areas of mutual benefits.

The Society also honored governor Mimiko for his government’s   giant strides in maternal healthcare.

Responding, Governor Mimiko said   his administration would   continue to make maternal healthcare one of the priorities   of his administration.

The   Governor noted that women empowerment is critical for   any society to develop, stressing that his administration would partner the society in the area of special research for sustainable development.

In the same vein,   Governor Mimiko while playing host to Dr Femi Oladapo of the department of Reproductive Health and Research, of the World Health Organisation ( WHO)  said that his administration would partner the World Health Organization in research development   and documentation.

In another development ,  Governor Olusegun Mimiko   has lauded the Kingmakers of Akure the State capital for their unity of purpose and   the peaceful selection of   the new Deji of Akure, Oba   Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi.

He gave the commendation yesterday in his office   while playing host to Oba Aladetoyinbo, who led the Akure council of chiefs on a thank-you visit to the Governor.

Dr Mimiko, who described the selection process of the new Deji as matured and peaceful, noted that the unanimous selection of the monarch   demonstrated the loyalty, love and confidence reposed in him to take Akure to the next level of development.

He   congratulated the monarch      and urged the people to always support him to succeed.

While speaking, Oba Aladetoyinbo appreciated Governor Mimiko for his effort in the quick selection of Deji and vowed to always support the Governor and all his people oriented programmes.

He noted that Akure during the tenure of Dr Olusegun Mimiko has recorded numerous improvement in infrastructure and socio-economic facet.

The monarch, who commended the entire people of Akure for their love and support, promised to work closely with the State government so that the town can continue to witness more development.
