Akure — Ondo State House of Assembly, has acceded to the request of the state governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko tto borrow a loan of N7 billion.
The governor had recently forwarded a letter to the state House of Assembly asking for their approval to source for a loan to enable him complete some on-going projects in the state.
Vanguard learnt that the loan is being sourced from Access Bank.
After argument in favour were adduced by both members of the ruling party and the opposition party APC, the house agreed unanimously that the loan is in the overall interest of the state.
They submitted that the loan will give room for the completion of all ongoing projects across the state.
Leading the deliberation on the request for the loan, the majority leader, Hon Ifedayo Akinsoyinu of the PDP explained that the loan will ensure speedy completion of all ongoing projects expected from a responsive and responsible government.
Others who spoke in favour of the approval include Hon Olamide George representing Akure North, Hon Abimbola Fajolu representing Ile-Oluji/Oke-igbo.
Also the minority leader, Mr Musa Mukaila of the APC corroborated the submission of the PDP members and maintained that a “denial to such request is a denial of democratic dividends for the good people of Ondo State”.
Hon Fajolu therefore moved that the request be granted and it was seconded by Hon George
The speaker, Rt. Hon Jumoke Akindele who presided over the siting said since the Lawmakers were unanimous in their submissions the request of the governor “ is hereby granted.”
